My Journey to Financial Freedom
Hopefully if you follow it, you'll be able to learn a little something about getting out of debt. During this time of recession, it's important for all of us to get out of debt and become more self-reliant.

BYU 41, UNI 17
BYU opened up the 2008 season with Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa is a team from the FCS, not the BCS. That just means that BYU should blow them out because they're a league higher.
BYU opened up to a 20-3 lead, but later it was closed to a 27-17 lead. There were some mistakes on both offense and defense that made this happen. Fumbles are the fans biggest concern right now.
Max Hall showed that he still has "it" by throwing for almost 500 yards and a pair of TDs, with no interceptions. Hall did fumble once in the endzone and that led to a TD for the other team. I would blame that on the OLine though. Dennis Pitta was Hall's main receiver, catching for over 200 yards. He will be a main contributor this season.
I took Kendra to the game and we both had a blast! There was somebody on our bench that shouldn't have been there, so it was a little scrunched. Okay, so we were realy scrunched. We were short a seat, but we improvised. We had so much fun though. I took my motorcycle and Kenj rode on the back. It's still nice to get that premium parking and be able to pass all of the cars.
This was the first game that we sat in the student section. Brian, Kirk, my roommate Derek, and I all have All-Sport Passes. We are in the endzone on row 18. We got some pretty decent seats. I would like to be about 10 rows behind us though. I think we're a little too close to see what is happening at the other end of the field.
After the game, Kenj and I went to join the rest of the family at the storytelling festival. We heard a couple of stories and they were pretty funny. My Grandpa was in the hospital and we found out he had cancer and was not doing well at all. We ended early and My Mom, Dad, Bethany, and I all headed out to South Dakota in one night. That is where the night ended.
After a week in South Dakota, we found that my Grandpa has improved quite a bit. He was barely responding when we go there and he was attached to a breathing tube that was keeping him alive. The last day we were there, he was in a chair and talking to us. He is still a little confused and will never be the same. It was good to see that he recovered the way he did. He was nice to visit both my Grandma and Grandpa.

BYU 17, UCLA 16 - The Rematch!
BYU 48, SDSU 27
My sister Kathryn hosted the game at her house, since she has the MTN. We all went over there and had some good food and enjoyed the game.
It was an expected win, so we were into it, but knew what the outcome would be. BYU finished the regular season 10-2 and was invited to the Las Vegas bowl to play UCLA.
BYU 17, Utah 10
This year they began the Deseret First Duel. BYU or Utah is awarded points if they win a game, in multiple sports. The football game is worth 10 points, so it's a big deal. There are 64 points between all of the events.
Brian came to the game with me and we enjoyed every bit of it. At least this time I invited Brian, it didn't rain. The curse was broken. The weather was great for a November game!
The game was too close the entire time. BYU was up a majority of the game. With just over a minute left, Utah jumped up 10-9. Yeah, sound familiar? BYU got the ball and Max Hall was sacked. There were also two incompletions. This set BYU up at a 4th and 18 play. BYU fans were feeling helpless at this point and it was hard not to lose faith. On the 4th down play, Max Hall felt a rush. He ducked his head to miss a player that was trying to sack him. At this point, nobody could really see Max because he was crouched behind a bunch of players. The Utah defensive back, Bryce McCain, thought that Max was sacked and sort of gave up on the play. This left Austin Collie wide open down the field. Max came out of the group of players and the crowd got excited. He took a few steps and lobbed it down to Austin Collie. The pass was a little short, but that just gave Austin an opportunity to turn around and pull in the pass. The crowd erupted as Cougar fans were given a new hope. The plays after that were all great. There were a few penalties called on the Utah defense that gave BYU a lot of yardage. All of the penalties were correct and very fair. Harvey Unga was able to run the last play in for a Touchdown and we were back on top. At this point, I ran down toward the field because I was so excited! The next play was a pass to Austin Collie, right down the middle for the two point conversion. This put BYU up 17-10. Utah got the ball with a little time on the clock. They weren't able to do anything with the ball and that was the game. I ran out onto the field and celebrated with the team. What a game!!
BYU 35, Wyoming 10
They had two theaters that were showing the game and they were both pretty packed. I was really excited. My Mom came half way through the game. I should've called her before it started, but I wasn't thinking straight. We had a blast though. People would stand and sing the fight song after each score. We had our own cheers and everything. It felt like I was at a home game. It made it so worth it after we put up with this MTN deal for so long.
BYU pulled out another incredible victory. It's tough playing in Wyoming, but they made it a great game.
BYU 24, UNLV 14
What you are not able to see in the picture is how cold we were on the first leg of the trip. We rode to Fillmore and I couldn't feel my feet anymore. All I could think about was that when I exit the freeway, I'm not going to be able to shift gears. I had to lift my whole leg instead of just my foot.
We got to Maverick in Fillmore and warmed up. We all got a hot chocolate because nothing else sounded better.
After Fillmore, the drive was great. No more rain, so we dried off and the clouds started disappearing. In fact, once we hit St. George, we shed the layers and we were all in t-shirts. My Mom and Dad were smart and wore like 10 layers each.
We stayed in extended stay deluxe and had a pleasant time there. We always look for the cheapest hotels to stay in and this was it. We headed straight to the game after that.
Once we got to the game, emotions were running high again. We got parking right next to the stadium with our bikes, so that was cool. Remember that Nevada has a helmet law where EVERYBODY has to wear a helmet. (Kirk) ;)
We were on the second row of the endzone, so we were really close. It was funny though because we couldn't really see how many yards the team got when they made a play. We would guess after each play and see who was closest.
We were surrounded by UNLV fans and of course, a fight was starting. Nothing happened, but we were annoyed. Some comments were thrown around about religion and they told us to go back to our temple. *I don't think they know there is one in Vegas* :)
The game was close at certain points, but we pulled off a good game. It felt great after UNLV shut Utah out. It was a fun game and for me it was worth the drive.
BYU 31 Air Force 6
My Dad, Mom, and brothers were able to ride our motorcycles to the game. It was a nice warm day, so we didn't have to worry much. It's nice to be able to get to the games quicker.
